Copper symbolizes wealth and prosperity for First Nations people of the Pacific Northwest Coast, especially the Kwakwaka’wakw.
These beautiful hand-carved ½ inch wide copper bracelets were crafted by Cristiano Bruno (MATILPI). Born in East Vancouver and raised in Italy, Cristiano grew up surrounded by music, art and culture. His uncle Charles Harper taught him the basics of precious metal, engraving and carving.
Copper is sometimes worn to relieve arthritis and symptoms related to poor circulation and continues to be a valuable material in the creation of First Nations jewelry pieces.
